Scoping review services

All prices are custom to the service. Fees and timelines are set for each project once the question has been scoped and its feasibility checked, so the quote reflects the evidence that actually exists.

Meridian Research Consultancy conducts scoping reviews for health, medical and exercise science research, following JBI methodology from protocol to a manuscript that is ready for peer review.

A scoping review maps what evidence exists on a question; it does not estimate an effect. The first job is to confirm that a scoping review is the right design for the question, because a scoping review that reviewers think should have been a systematic review is a common reason for rejection.

What we deliver

  • A check that the question suits a scoping review rather than a systematic review
  • A question framed by Population, Concept and Context, and a protocol registered or published before screening (PROSPERO does not accept scoping reviews)
  • A full search across databases and grey literature, reported so it can be repeated
  • Duplicate screening of titles, abstracts and full texts
  • A data charting form piloted on a sample of studies before full charting
  • Results mapped in tables and figures, with critical appraisal only where the question calls for it
  • A manuscript reported to PRISMA-ScR

How a project runs

  1. Topic and protocol. The research question (PICO) is confirmed, feasibility is checked, and a publication-ready protocol is written and registered.
  2. Analysis and drafting. Systematic search, screening, data extraction and statistical analysis, including network meta-analysis or meta-regression, then the full manuscript.
  3. Review and refinement. You review the draft, and revisions continue without limit until it is ready for submission.
  4. Submission and peer review. Cover letter and submission support, then additional analyses and point-by-point responses to reviewers until a decision.

Scope and fees

Scoping reviews sit outside the tiers: there is no pooled analysis, and the work depends on the breadth of the question and the volume of evidence it returns.
