Meridian Research Consultancy plans and runs pairwise meta-analyses for health, medical and exercise science research, from the statistical analysis plan to a manuscript that is ready for peer review.

The decisions that reviewers challenge are made before the data are seen: the effect measure, the model, the heterogeneity estimator and the sensitivity analyses are fixed in the protocol, so the results cannot be accused of following the numbers.

What we deliver

  • A statistical analysis plan that fixes the effect measure, model and sensitivity analyses in advance
  • Effect sizes calculated and converted consistently (MD, SMD, risk ratio, odds ratio), including standard deviations recovered from standard errors, confidence intervals, medians and ranges
  • Random-effects models with a stated tau² estimator, and a confidence interval method suited to the number of studies
  • Heterogeneity reported as tau², I² and a prediction interval, not I² alone
  • Subgroup, sensitivity and small-study effect analyses
  • Where the question needs it: meta-regression, dose-response, three-level, proportional or Bayesian meta-analysis
  • Risk of bias carried into the analysis, and a GRADE summary of findings table
  • Forest and funnel plots, reproducible R or Stata code, and a results section written to PRISMA 2020

How a project runs

  1. Topic and protocol. The research question (PICO) is confirmed, feasibility is checked, and a publication-ready protocol is written and registered.
  2. Analysis and drafting. Systematic search, screening, data extraction and statistical analysis, including network meta-analysis or meta-regression, then the full manuscript.
  3. Review and refinement. You review the draft, and revisions continue without limit until it is ready for submission.
  4. Submission and peer review. Cover letter and submission support, then additional analyses and point-by-point responses to reviewers until a decision.

Scope and fees

Pairwise meta-analysis is Tier 2, with the full systematic review around it. Tier 3 adds meta-regression, dose-response and the other advanced models, for heterogeneity that needs explaining rather than reporting.
